Our Product

RoCon is a poison free rodenticide registered by Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency for the control of Richardson’s ground squirrels and Norway rats.

RoCon starts as a liquid concentrate and is mixed with water inside an application tank. Before application a plastic cone is inserted into the burrow entrance(s). The cone acts as a physical barrier that prevents the rodent from escaping. The mixture is then pumped from the tank through an aeration nozzle. This causes the mixture to foam. During application the foam is pumped though the plastic cone and into the rodent burrow. The foam expands and completely fills the holes. The air inside is displaced and the rodent is forced to inhale the foam, causing it to quickly asphyxiate.

Benefits

  • RoCon is made with a unique combination of non-toxic ingredients. There is no risk of secondary poisoning when using this product. It poses no risk to the general public, livestock, or non target species.

  • The foam is 100% biodegradable and disappears within 24 hours of application.

  • RoCon provides immediate rodent control. It is the only product on the market that allows you to chase a rodent down a burrow and control it immediately.

  • When applied according to the label directions, RoCon provides greater than 95% control.

  • RoCon is effective as long as the rodent is active in the burrow. Unlike traditional methods of rodent control, our product is not dependent on feeding habits.

Testimonials

We have been using RoCon for the past 3 years at Capital Power, and have seen a very significant decrease in the number of gophers in our cattle pastures. Areas that used to be full of gopher holes are now growing grass better than ever. RoCon is safe for use around landscaped areas and does not impact nearby trees or plants. The product is easy to use and safe for use around livestock. We have recorded a near 95% success rate.

Our Company

In 1985, Don and Joan Sutherland began trying to rid their 10 acre property near Cochrane, Alberta of Richardson’s ground squirrels. Being a professional engineer, Sutherland tried everything to control his gopher infestation –  trapping, shooting, poisoning, carbon monoxide, burrow flooding, fumigation and sonic repellents. However, none of these methods provided the results he was promised or the control he needed.

In 1995, Sutherland began research on a foam based method for ground squirrel control. The results were dramatic. His product was safe, effective, and worked fast. By winter the following year, Sutherland had cleared his property of gophers, and expanded a gopher free buffer zone into the surrounding ranch land. He patented the product and the method of application and the rest was history.

In 2008, Don’s company entered into a manufacturing and sales agreement with RoCon Industries. In 2011, we bought Don and Joan’s company simply because the product works so well. Since our humble beginning on Don and Joan’s ranch, we have continued to expand the business while remaining true to their original mission: provide safe rodent control that works.

FAQ

Is there a risk of secondary poisoning?

No, RoCon is not a poison. Because the ingredients are non-toxic, there is no risk of accidentally poisoning non-target species.

How many holes does a case of RoCon treat?

This varies depending on how mature and extensive the burrow system is. On average a case of product will treat 160 holes.

What time of the year can RoCon be used?

RoCon is effective as long as the rodent is active in the burrow. Our product provides effective control from the time Richardson’s ground squirrels come out of hibernation in the spring, until the time they go into hibernation later in the season.
